Ready for Work

(HOLY CRAP! an entry with actual writing in it!!!!)

Today was my first day as a ballet dance instructor for children, ages 7 to 9. I teach a small class of 14. Part of an after school program. There is another, older woman who teaches the class with me.

We didn't do much but introduce everyone to some of the stuff we will be learning and just get to know my students (lol I feel so old saying that >.<) and ask them why they want to learn ballet. And yes we do have a few boys in the class. Ballet is NOT just for girls.

So, I'm really looking forward to teach ballet these small stars ballet ^__^

December 1st

It's officially that time of the year again. Because I just saw that Hershey Kisses "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" jingle commercial today.

So here I am back in Boston with my family & friends, just relaxing and taking it easy. Getting ready to start my Christmas traditions...

*Drink lots of hot cocoa in my  favorite mug
* Watch "A Little Princess" & "Annie"
* Start wrapping the gifts while listing to Christmas songs
*Help set up the decorations & look at everyone else too.
*Last minute shopping (because I can never seem to get everything at one go)
*Our traditional family Christmas card group photo. Not looking forward to it -_- .
Etc...

I've been working hard on some new dance moves I'm proud to say that I came up with all by myself. Since I have such a long vacation I can really work hard on this. And do some D.I.Y work on my ballerina costumes. I'm trying something new I found on YouTube. I've gotten tired going broke buy $85 to $500 for one costume alone. That now, I'm trying to make them! The women on YT make look so easy.
These two are my favorite! ^^

So we'll see how it goes...*sigh*

October, Thank you.

Today is the first full month of Autumn. For me it's my last month here in San Diego.  I've been accepted into a private ballet school in New York. I just received my letter this morning! I'm so happy I'm crying now as I type this. All my hard work and patience as finally paid off! But before I move, I need to find a job, hopefully in dancing. But anything will do.

I cannot believe that I will be living in New York!!!!!! I've been there on occasion but to live there, being able to go to Broadway shows whenever I want, the best ballet performance just steps away from my place.

THE FOOD! I love New York food! I once had a pizza from there and could never find anything to top it in Boston or San Diego!

Worst part about all this? moving. I hate moving but will move 1000 times over if it means getting one step closer to my goals.

This also means I need to shop for Fall/Winter clothes. And I can start wearing my scarf collection!

The school will pay for all of my classes, I'll be responsible for food & supplies.  I'll be in school Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 7:30 pm. I'll have weekends and holidays off. If I'm late to school I don't go to class. According to the letter they're pretty strict.  I love it already!

Now first thing first, got to find a place to live.

Back home in Boston!

If you remember my entry about how stressful I was feeling because I have many ballet recital coming. I though it would be best to take a two week vacation with my family, being around love ones always fills my heart.

Well being around them has relived most if not all of my stress. I'm ready for next week, I'm ready to dance!

Sunday night is going to be spent indoors. First is the start of Season three of Downton Abbey (in the UK but I'll catch it somewhere online ^_^ ) and on PBS is the second episode of Broadway or Bust.

And I'm still on my beauty ban. It's kinda harder than I though. Because of course NOW that I'm on a beauty products ban EVERY & ALL stores wants to have deep discounts on my favorite items. But it's cool, in ballet we're taught discipline and how to focus. I try to use them in everyday life too.  I save a lot of money by not running out to buy the newest creams & lotions.

I wanted to share the newest video from the best songstress on Youtube: KateTheGreat19
She has a angelic voice, and what makes her so awesome is she's a lover of video games, anime, and music.  Most of her covers are from some form of anime or video game.

And when she sings; the vocals, instruments, and melodies are all from her.

This song in the video below, is in a well loved anime film, can you guess where it's from?

No More Beauty Products. BANNED! SnowAsian is BACK!

                                                               I'm done.

I'm done with beauty stores, beauty shops, beauty products, beauty deals and steals. Beauty coupons and all the like.

                                              I. Have. Too. Much. CRAP!

I literately have a big bin JUST for all my skincare products! And I have a makeup case dedicated only to lip balms/stains/butters and nail polish!

So I'm on a beauty ban until I use up my entire supply. I honestly think I have enough beauty crap to last me til the end on next year (that's with daily use)!

So the ban includes:
NO skincare products: cleansers, moisturizers, creams, mask, etc...  This does not include any doctor prescribed medicine.
NO lip balms, stains, butters, sticks, etc..
NO more makeup: eye shadows, eyeliners, foundation, concealers, etc...
NO nail polishes: nail art, etc...
NO TO ANY BEAUTY PRODUCTS!!!!

So this means no more beauty hauls for a long while. Which is great because I can dedicate this blog to my ballet world and bits & pieces of my personal life. I hate that I made this place too materialistic! I want more of my life/passion/dreams/thoughts to come out of this blog.

SnowAsian was NEVER meant to be 24/7 beauty site. And that's just what I've made it. I've got to change that. This place was for ballet & venting. I've lost sight of that. I hate a part of me for that. And I am sorry dear readers.... But I learned my lesson and will get back on track starting with the next update!

That is my promise to you, I won't break it!
                                                                  (=^__^=)

Awake!

I missed blogging -_-. But i have so much on my plate right now that I probably won't get a break until early August.  I just finished four recitals in two weeks! My personal schedule is like a fast roller coaster and there is no time to take a breather! But at least there some good news. I've just started getting paid to help out in some recitals. So it's like a job now. Pay varies depending on what department I'm to assist. But It's still a fun job.

I haven't brought anything beauty wise because I'm saving up money for my new TV. It's killing me a little. Like, I just missed out on a great Rite Aid sale last week; 40% off all Revlon Products & 40% off all NYC New York Color products. But by not buying anything has shown me how much beauty stuff I really have.

But I'm loving matted emerald green nail polishes. Rocking Revlon Emerald City Matte Suede nail polish for a while.

I watched both seasons of "Game of Thrones" in attempt to distract myself from the fact that the new season of "Merlin" & "Downton Abbey" are not out yet. And now I shot myself in the foot because I've become addicted to THIS show! And I read the new season won't come out until next year.

I have many recitals coming up in September so I need to go back and practice more.

                          See ya soon!

Realize. Now Focus

Ballet is coming along quite well. Yesterday we focused mostly on Battements, it turns out some people in my class still show weakness in this area. And because a few show weakness we ALL show weakness. So for the rest of this and next week we will focus on that. I myself want to focus on battement lent. I need to make my legs stronger. I guess my daily walks and jogs just aren't doing it for me. I guess I need to join a gym even though I hate public/private gyms.

I haven't been online much this past week, I've been working very hard on my steps and staying late as possible at school. And I also started a new job as of Sunday. So it seems my free time is slowly being striped away....

But writing gives me a sort of a release in my personal life and because of that I will always make time for it.

Other points in my life....well I'm finally saving up for a new flat screen TV, but I wonder if I'll be able to play all my old PS2 games on it. But I am in need of an up graded, I've had my TV since 2001 and it finally gave out on me. RIP TV. I also ordered two pocket watch necklaces and two sets of  Clow Cards, so I'm waiting for them to arrive.

I've been really getting into my book "The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer: My Life at Rose Red". It's getting pretty creepy but my eyes can't look away! Totally worth the 96¢ I paid for it!

Lastly I'm watching the anime series "The Story of Saiunkoku". I'm in love with this series, it's very good so far. I'm on episode 22 now.

1st Day of June!

Me in the purple!

Summer is here and it's time to go on vacation. Since my college classes double as a summer program I won't be doing much relaxing. But I will be making this summer the best yet! Other than shamelessly spend my money on frivolous things things have been great. But I've been sick for the past two days, think I caught something at school. On the topic of school, It's great. I'm learning a lot and made best friends for life.
We are having a ballet recital on June 19. It's nothing big, just to get use to performing in public. Which I've already grown accustom to since I was a child. But more practice never hurt anybody.
I'm looking forward to two new ballet shows coming on TV. "Breaking Point" and "BunHeads". I'm hoping they'll be good. I'm leaning towards BunHeads being better because Breaking Point looks like it's going to focus on more of a love story. Maybe my ballet teacher will mention to watch them for homework lol. Not gonna happen I know :P

Earlier in the week, I re-watched Rose Red by Stephen King and then watched The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer, it's the prequel to Rose Red. I loved both so much that I decided to order a copy of the book "The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer: My Life at Rose Red" on Amazon. I read lots of reviews that this is a highly recommend book. Can't wait for it to come!

Haven't talked about Sara Crewe lately, she doing fine. Just a few days ago I was leaving my apartment and she runs right past me down the hallway wanted to ride in my car. I got her leash and let her come with me. She, like many dogs love to stick her head out of the window. I get kinda scared when she does, she's so small I think she'll be blown away.

More updates later! Have a great weekend guys!

Contemporary ballet

My classes are going great! I've really fallen for "Contemporary Ballet" so much that I'm going to start taking classes that specialize in only that. We watched films of people from different backgrounds, countries, race, and cultures taking Classic Ballet into their own hands and making something new and unique. I want to do that, learn it, then teach it to others.

This is the Start of Something Big

Okay so my first week of my ballet classes has come to a end. And it was amazing! My teacher, Ms. Eve has been in ballet over 40 years O___o. This is a summer program, so I'll be in school through out summer and in the fall, transfer into the actually class.

Kinda faster than I expected but we got to met out dance partners. I was nervous & interested at the same time. Jake, age 23 is my partner for the course. He said he been dancing since he was six. I guess we'll be working a lot together, plus I up my daily practice from 2 hours to 3 hours, 30mins day/night.

Now that I've finally got into a dance college, I can work on getting myself notice....

Spring Footwork

Spring is here and that means many, many Ballet recitals to come. I'm so excited because this mean I get to really put my face out there, get my name out and show people what I'm really made of!

This is huge because I'm finally getting my chance to try out for "Royal Ballet School", along with many other places. So I've been practicing non-stop. I'm getting really good, even at the difficult footwork. I'm also finally able to buy my car that I've been saving up for two year!!! Great, now I don't have to rely on the Metro's crappy bus schedules!

So this it, this the year my life makes a big change. I'm to excited to be scared, I'm steadily dancing away my fear....

P.S Sorry for all the skincare entries spam! I've been too busy practicing to do a real blog post. Once everything starts to go with the flow, I'll be able to start real blogging again!

The simple Things

This week had been pretty cool and inspiring for me. On Monday, few classmates and I got to put on a ballet performance at a nearby Middle School and also did some after school volunteer work at a elementary school teaching small girls some basic ballet lessons. They were so cute and looked like they were enjoying themselves.

I think this is something I'd like to do as a backup plan, teach small children Ballet. I'm currently working on getting into The Royal Ballet School in London. Which is going slow but I am making progress, but if this does not work out then I can always teach the dance form. At the end of the day, as long as I dance, I'm happy.

HairCut

Love the feeling after getting a new hair cut! I went to Hair Cuttery on Monday, I rarely ever go to a hair salon because I am very over protective of my hair. So, either I do it or a family member or friend. But life is getting to busy for me to keep up with my "high maintenance" hair. If I don't give it special treatment almost everyday  it will go crazy on me. I have very thin & dry hair. I love volume but not big hair, just enough to frame my face just right. Because I get my hair done (usually in an up-do) before ballet recitals, my hair is constantly being pulled and tugged in every which way. Causing it to become very frail and dry. I need to apply a hot oil treatment in my hair twice a week to keep it hydrated.

Anyway, back to my haircut. I love the result! My hair feels voluminous, light, healthy, well hydrated, and a lot stronger.

While I was out I brought some toe pads for my ballet slippers. I always end up losing them or they lose their cushieness lol!

I've been playing some of my old PlayStation 2 video games lately on my PS3. I find them more entertaining that a lot of the games on my PS3 and Xbox 360. Lately I've been gaming back and fourth with Trapt, Dragon Quest VIII, and Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love. Trapt is my favorite even though it has sadistic elements in it.....what does that say about me O__o?

Well that's all folks! Gotta get back to the real world so I'll end this small update with another picture of my dad's new puppy. After his much needed haircut!

End of the First Week of the New Year!

Monday was first day of Ballet class, it felt so good to get back on the dancer floor! Met my new teacher and made some genuine friends. Got up, got dress and missed the Metro, I cannot wait till May, that's when I'll be able to get my car. It seems I have bad luck with the Metro no matter where I live! But that's okay, I'll get my car and never again have to complain about the local Metro just gas prices lol!
But, we are learning about Contemporary ballet, that is when you combine parts of both classical & modern ballet together. Up till now, I've only study, classical ballet so I'm more that ready for a change. On Wednesday I had to leave early because it was the last day of a ballet casting call. I was trying out for two roles. I only got one but YAY!. I play the main character's youngest sister. That's all I can say till further notice lol. But I will start training for my role starting Sunday. I can't wait, a new year and already I'm getting a ballet role.
I'm also buying a new bed, as of now I'm sleeping on a futon mattress. Which has been giving me back problems. I've also simplify my skincare regime and my skin looks great and feels amazing!

I want to go see "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo & The Woman in Black". Both look really good.

Feeling the Love!

What can I say? I am loving life right now! I was a little down for awhile, but I cheered my own self up over the weekend. I saw some sites, indulged in a at-home-Spa and wrote a lot in my journal. I realized how blessed I am. With a lot of people looking for work, losing their homes, trying to pay bills, and support a family, I have is kinda easy. I'm not a young single mother trying to raise a child and further my education like some of the people I was friends with in school. It's just my doggy and I.

I was upset that my career in Ballet hasn't really taken off yet. That I wouldn't get to live out my dream but I thought about it and saw what I do have and am happy about it. As long as I can keep dancing on or off stage I will be fine.

Since I didn't get the part in "The Nutcracker"  I'm travailing back to Boston, Massachusetts for the holidays. I'll be back in San Diego next year in 2012. Looking forward to all the quality family time I'll be getting during the holidays.

I'm glad I'm over my little dark cloud period, I am now focus and thinking clearly. Working hard to achieve my goals and enjoying my young life.

 Happy Holidays, everyone!

First Day at my new Dance School!

After getting settle in my new apartment and new life in San Diego, I started going to a new dance school too! I start school at 8:30 am, But I arrived early on my first day and got a chance to see some students doing an early morning rehearsal for a show I guess they'll be performing later.

Soon as class began, our teacher (who I believe was a Drill Sergeant in another life) told us to change in our leotards. I..... mistakenly pack my white long tutu and blue flats instead of my brand new pink ones. So unlucky.... >__>

But thankfully I was NOT the only one that had bad lucky. Several other girls came in just the same with long tutus, lol.
After the first day of school ended, I walked to the metro stop and got a Biracial ice cream on the way.

Came home, took a nice hot bath, to relax my muscles and worked on multiple projects and of course blogging ;) on my laptop. While Sara Crewe slept away....
